Belkyra Treatment for Double Chin

New Zealand men and women concerned about a double chin now have a nonsurgical option for treatment.

What is Belkyra?

Belkyra Treatment is a nonsurgical injection treatment to reduce the fat in a double chin.

The active ingredient is deoxycholic acid, derived from a plant. Deoxycholic acid is an important part of our bile which helps dissolve and digest the fat we eat. When deoxycholic acid is injected into the double chin fat it acts as a detergent and breaks down fat cells. Fewer fat cells mean less fat in the double chin. You can read more about it here.

What to expect from Belkyra treatment?

A series of injections is needed, at least two and maybe three or four. After an assessment and discussion about your neck, the treatment area is marked out. A series of local anaesthetic injections are given for comport followed by the Belkyra injections. The area is usually swollen for a few days to up to six weeks.

How much does Belkyra cost?

That depends on how much and how many treatments are required. A minimum of two Belkyra treatments at $1500 per treatment will be needed i.e. a minimum of $3000. Some people need more.

Who may benefit from Belkyra?

Patients who have a moderate or severe amount of fat in their double chin. There can be other causes of neck fullness and a consultation and examination is necessary to ensure that Belkyra treatment is the right treatment.

Who should not have Belkyra?

Anyone who is allergic to deoxycholic acid is pregnant or breastfeeding should not have Belkyra treatment.
