Here’s some important things to think about to help achieve that perfect glow before your wedding day.
Pre-wedding injectables have become a staple for most brides-to-be. Along with other complementary cosmetic treatments, many women are embracing Botulinum toxin to achieve that glowing, perfect look. If you are researching this treatment as part of your wedding beauty planning, there are a few things you should consider before you book that first consultation to help ensure you look the best you can be in your wedding album.
What is Botulinum Toxin?
Botox is a form of purified botulinum toxin type A used to treat wrinkles and other signs of aging. It temporarily blocks the nerves and freezes muscles, which smooths and softens the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It is considered safe and can be used for targeted anti-aging treatment around the eyes, forehead and in between the eyebrows. By contracting the facial muscles, it can also help in slowing down the appearance of new lines and wrinkles.
The Procedure:
Receiving Botulinum toxin is a minimally invasive procedure that requires no incisions made into the skin. It involves administering a series of injections of botulinum toxin type A using a fine needle. There may be slight discomfort or pain when the dose is given, but your doctor or practitioner can apply a topical anesthetic to make the experience more comfortable and some patients find it near to painless. The procedure should take around 15 minutes, and because there is no downtime, you can get back on your feet and go about your day as usual.
Are There Any Side Effects?
While not common, some people may experience slight bruising and discomfort. This typically goes away in a couple of days. Rarely, some people are prone to drooping of the eyebrow or eyelid or uneven smile. It is best to discuss these possibilities well before the big day.
How Botox Can Help You Achieve a Flawless Look for those Wedding Day photographs:
Planning a wedding can be stressful and tiresome; all the hectic running around can play havoc on your skin quality and general appearance. Botulinum toxin can help counter this by making you appear fresh-faced and glowing.
- It can help smoothen out the 11 lines or the frown lines between eyebrows
- Lines on the forehead will be smoothened, and the area will also feel tighter
- Crow’s feet that appear at the corner of the eyes will also minimise or disappear
- It will stop excessive sweating in the armpits
If you’re considering getting injectables in time for your wedding day, we recommend finding a doctor you trust and talking with them regarding the procedures you’re most interested in for your wedding (and the risks involved for all of them).
The Pre-Wedding Injectable Plan:
It’s important to consider how long before the wedding you should have your treatment done? Botox takes two weeks from when you have it injected to reach its full impact. The results can last from about three to four months depending on your own body and how you metabolise it, so it’s advisable to plan, assess and adjust in time for your big day.
- Consultation and Trial Treatment:
If you have settled on getting a Botox, make sure you start the procedures at least 4 months before the wedding. In fact, at Ponsonby Cosmetic Medical Clinic we recommend a consultation to outline a pre-wedding treatment plan at least 6 months ahead of the day. If you are new to injectables, this will also give you time for a trial run, to make necessary adjustments and see the true effects of your treatment. You can also decide if you want to continue with the treatment plan in time for your wedding.
It takes about 2 weeks for the effects of the treatment to reflect completely, and the results should last around 3-4 months. Again, this depends on many factors, including your age, location of the injection, lifestyle, and the amount of injectable used.
- Assessment and Adjustments:
After the trial treatment, about 2-3 weeks later, we will assess the results and determine if adjustments are needed. This will also allow you to see the final effect for yourself and make any adjustments to the final plan.
- Your Pre Wedding Treatment:
The final treatment needs to be done at least 4 weeks before the date of the wedding. The procedure may result in some slight bruising, and it is best to give it around 2 weeks to heal completely. Plus, as we mentioned earlier, the full effect becomes evident in 2-3 weeks, so it’s best to give the final treatment before the wedding enough time.
