Profhilo®

Profhilo is a unique hyaluronic acid that hydrates the face, neck or decolletage while stimulating the formation of new collagen and elastin.

What is Profhilo?

Profhilo is a unique combination of high and low molecular weight hyaluronic acid (HA), administered by injection. Profhilo does not volumise like other HAs, instead it sits just under the skin where it hydrates, leading to improved skin texture and the reduction of fine lines. Over time, clinical studies show Profhilo stimulates skin fibroblasts (increasing collagen and elastin formation) and fat cells under the skin (which become plumper).

Since being launched in Italy in 2015 over a million Profhilo treatments have been performed in Europe and the UK. Profhilo arrived in New Zealand and Australia in 2020.

What Makes Profhilo different?

Profhilo’s unique structure means that, after injection, it will spread, forming a very thin layer just under the skin. This spreading ability is what gives Profhilo its hydrating and biostimulation properties.

What treatments are performed?

Profhilo is currently used on the face, neck, decolletage and hands.

What is treatment like?

Profhilo requires two treatments done 4 weeks apart at a cost of $1300. If extra hydration is required a third session may be advised.

Initially there is an intense hydration phase which lasts a few days. After the hydration phase settles the biostimulation phase begins and progresses for six months.

Visible signs are more subtle than volumising HA fillers with the focus being on hydration, fine lines and skin quality.

To maintain results we recommend top-up treatments every 6 or 12 months and individual results do vary. Your practitioner will provide you with a treatment plan and advice during your initial consultation.

What are Profhilo’s side effects?

Any injectable treatment may cause swelling, redness and bruising. Swelling is more noticeable in some people. Usually it settles overnight but rarely may last four or five days.

All HA treatments have a small risk of infection or blockage of part of the blood supply of the face, both of which can be treated. A review of the European experience suggests that the incidence of these may be lower with
Profhilo than with other fillers.
